Terms of participation
Translation. Only the German version is legally binding.
Last updated: 4 November 2026. Valid for the 2026/27 season.
1. Organiser
The Piste Passport is organised by LaceUp AG, Eyhof 34, 8047 Zurich (hereinafter “LaceUp” or “we”). It is an independent challenge: the ski areas on the list are neither organisers nor partners, and none pays to be named.
LaceUp’s terms and conditions (in German) and privacy policy (in German) and the privacy policy of the Piste Passport also apply. Where these terms of participation say otherwise, they take precedence.
2. Taking part
- Taking part is free. There is no obligation to buy anything or subscribe. You buy your lift ticket or season pass yourself, as always.
- Anyone can take part who signs up on this website with an email address and a name and accepts these terms of participation and LaceUp’s terms and conditions and privacy policy. You can sign up until 30 April 2027.
- There is one passport per person. Use your real name: it appears on your passport and in the leaderboards.
- If you are under 18, you need the consent of your parents or legal guardian.
3. Season
- Ski days from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, 23:59, are stamped. From 16 November 2026 the passport pioneers test it; from 5 December 2026 the passport is open to everyone.
- What is in your passport stays there, beyond the season too. The levels count all ski areas across all winters; the season ranking starts afresh every winter. Whether and how the Piste Passport continues in later winters, we will announce on this website.
4. How a ski area gets into your passport
- Each of the 223 ski areas has a checkpoint, usually at a top station or a summit. When your recording passes the checkpoint, the area’s stamp goes into your passport. There is one stamp per area, no matter how often you ski there.
- You can record with Strava, Garmin or Polar, which you connect to your passport. Activities recorded as skiing or snowboarding count.
- Without a recording, you can stamp at the checkpoint on this website: tap “Stamp it”, allow your location and stay put for a moment. This counts like a recording.
- Once signed up, you can also send a photo of a ski area’s checkpoint with the day you skied there (“I’ve been there”). LaceUp checks it by hand; once approved, the stamp follows. There is no entitlement to this.
- GPS recordings are never completely accurate, so the radius around each checkpoint is generous. LaceUp fetches data from Strava, Garmin and Polar on a best-effort basis: if these services fail or change their interfaces, a stamp may come later or not at all. No claims arise from this.
- If a stamp is missing although you were there, send a photo or write to us at go@laceup.ch.
5. Levels and rewards
The levels count all ski areas across all winters:
- White Passport, from 2 ski areas: Your local hill plus one: your passport is warmed up. From now on you’re in the prize draw at the season finale.
- Blue Passport, from 5 ski areas: A helmet sticker in piste blue, posted to your home.
- Red Passport, from 10 ski areas: A helmet sticker in piste red. From here on you’re part of the hard core.
- Black Passport, from 25 ski areas: A helmet sticker in piste black and your name on the Wall of Fame.
- We post helmet stickers while stocks last. To send them, we ask you for your postal address by email.
- There are also 4 badges (Quattro, Village lift, Holiday, Spring). What they take is explained on this website.
6. Leaderboards
- Season ranking 2026/27: by number of ski areas. On a tie, whoever reached the number first comes first.
- Ski days 2026/27: by days on which a recording passed a checkpoint or you stamped at a checkpoint (Swiss time). On a tie, whoever reached the number first comes first.
- There is also the all-time ranking across all winters.
- The leaderboards are calculated automatically and are provisional until the season finale. Before the finale we check the top ten of the season ranking for plausibility.
7. Season finale and prizes
- In May 2027 there are prizes for the top three of the 2026/27 season ranking and a draw among everyone who reached at least the White Passport (2 ski areas) by 30 April 2027. We will announce the prizes on this website.
- Winners are notified by email. Anyone who does not respond within 14 days loses their claim; the prize then goes to the next person in the ranking or is drawn again.
- Prizes are not paid out in cash and are not transferable. Employees of LaceUp AG collect too but receive no prizes at the season finale.
- No correspondence will be entered into about the draw.
8. Fair play
- Only your own, real runs on skis or a snowboard count.
- Not allowed: someone else’s or manipulated recordings, GPS data edited afterwards, faked locations when stamping, photos not taken by you or not on the day given, and more than one passport per person.
- If we suspect abuse, we may check, hold back or remove stamps, photos, activities and passports, or exclude them from leaderboards and prizes.
9. Safety and liability
- You take part at your own risk. The FIS rules of conduct for skiers and snowboarders apply, as do the instructions of the lift companies, piste closures and avalanche warnings.
- No checkpoint is off-piste. Never leave marked runs for a stamp.
- Stamp only when you are standing safely at the side, not while skiing.
- To the extent permitted by law, LaceUp is not liable for accidents, damage or losses in connection with taking part, except in cases of intent or gross negligence. Otherwise, the liability provisions of LaceUp’s terms and conditions apply.
10. The ski areas
- The list includes 223 ski areas and is researched by hand. The names only describe the checkpoints.
- We may change the list during the season, for example if an area is added, closes or does not want to be named, and move checkpoints. Stamps you have collected stay in your passport wherever possible.
- Whether an area is open and which lifts run is solely up to the ski area. There is no entitlement to a checkpoint being reachable.
11. What is public
Your name, your profile picture, your ski areas with level and ski days and your places in the leaderboards are publicly visible on this website, as is your passport with its stamps. “Just stamped” shows your first name and the initial of your last name. Your email address, your recordings and your GPS tracks are not public. More in the privacy policy.
12. Changes and termination
- We may amend these terms of participation. We will announce significant changes on this website. The version on this page applies.
- For good cause, for example if a data service blocks its interface, in case of abuse or for legal reasons, we may change, suspend or end the Piste Passport. To the extent permitted by law, no claims arise from this.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich, to the extent permitted by law; mandatory places of jurisdiction for consumers are reserved.
