Piste Passport · 223 ski areas · LaceUp
Every ski area counts.
The Föhrlimatt drag lift in Wegenstetten takes you up to 576 m. Trockener Steg station in Zermatt sits at 2’928 m. In the Piste Passport, each is worth exactly one stamp.
Since 2000, one in six Swiss ski areas has disappeared. The 223 still running deserve a visit. You collect places, not kilometres, vertical metres or speed.

How a stamp gets into your passport
Get your passport
Sign up for free and connect Strava, Garmin or Polar. It takes a minute, and you don’t need a new app.
Ride as always
Start recording on your watch or phone before you get on the lift. Then enjoy the day.
Collect the stamp
When your track passes the checkpoint at the top station, the area is in your passport. Automatically, shortly after the upload. Without a recording: tap “Stamp it” here at the checkpoint.
Ski, snowboard, telemark: everyone on the slopes collects.

This is your trial count and it stays on this device. Officially, the passport stamps as soon as you record a ski day.
From the White to the Black Passport
The levels count every ski area across all winters. Once it’s in your passport, it stays. You know the colours from the slopes.

Questions and answers
What does the Piste Passport cost?
Nothing. The passport is free, with no purchase required. You buy your lift ticket or season pass yourself, as always.
Who is behind it?
The Piste Passport is an independent project, built on the LaceUp platform. No ski area pays to be in it and none gets preferential treatment. The names of the areas are only there to find your way and don’t mean any partnership.
Do I need a watch or an app?
You need a Strava, Garmin or Polar account. A watch is handy but not required: get Strava for free on your phone, press start before your first lift, done. There is no Piste Passport app.
Forgot to record?
Then stamp it at the checkpoint with your phone: open this page, tap “Stamp it”, allow your location and stay put for a few seconds. Without signal, the stamp waits on your phone and goes out as soon as you’re back online. It lands in your passport as usual once LaceUp has checked it.
Where exactly is the checkpoint?
Every ski area has one checkpoint, usually at a top station or a summit, so you can only reach it by lift. GPS wanders in the mountains, so the radius is generous. One ride up is enough.
Does snowboarding count?
Of course. Ski, snowboard, telemark: everyone on the slopes collects.
Do kilometres, vertical metres or speed count?
No. You collect places. Vertical metres show up at most as a statistic in your profile. Ride as you always do: the FIS rules of conduct apply, and no checkpoint is off-piste.
What about ski areas across the border?
They count with a checkpoint on Swiss soil, for example Zermatt without Cervinia or the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil.
What does “in your passport for good” mean?
A ski area stays in your passport, next winter too. The levels count all areas across all winters. There is also a season ranking that starts afresh every winter.
What happens to my GPS data?
Your recordings are only used to check whether you passed a checkpoint. At most, totals per ski area are published. You only get the newsletter if you sign up for it separately. Swiss data protection law applies.
We run a ski area and would rather not be on the list.
Write to us at go@laceup.ch. If an area doesn’t want to be listed, we take it off. And if you want more, say a level of your own with your slopes, get in touch too.
Ride once, in your passport for good.
The season runs until 30 April 2027. Your passport is ready in a minute, and the first stamp comes on your next ski day.
