This policy applies to this website and to taking part in the Piste Passport. It supplements the privacy policy of LaceUp (in German), which applies to the laceup.io platform: to your account, connected services and the analysis of your activities. We process personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

Signing up and your passport
- For your passport, you give your email address, your first name and your last name. LaceUp uses them to send you the login link and to keep your passport.
- On your passport you can upload a profile picture and change your name. LaceUp stores both in your account. If you connected Strava, your profile picture may come from there.
Emails to us
If you write to us, for example to suggest a lift through the form on this website (it opens your email app), we use your email only to check the suggestion and reply to you.
Recordings, stamping and photos
- If you connect Strava, Garmin or Polar, LaceUp fetches your activities from there. It analyses whether and when your recording passes a checkpoint, using the GPS track, the date and the type of activity. You can disconnect at any time.
- If you tap “Stamp it” and allow your location, your browser reads your position while the stamping window is open. The positions go to LaceUp as proof. Without signal, they stay on your device until you are back online.
- If you send a photo as proof (“I’ve been there”), the photo, the day and your comment go to LaceUp and are checked by hand. An original camera photo usually contains the place and time it was taken; we use this information for the check.
What is public
- On this website, your name, your profile picture, your stamped ski areas, your level, your ski days and your places in the leaderboards are publicly visible. Anyone who taps your name sees your passport.
- “Just stamped” shows your first name, the initial of your last name, the ski area and when you stamped it.
- Not public: your email address, your activities, your GPS tracks and the positions where you stamped.
- For individual ski areas we only analyse totals, for example how many passports stamped there, never with names.
Sharing
If you tap “Share”, your browser draws an image of your passport. The website stores this image with your first name, the number of your ski areas and your level, so that a shared link shows a preview in WhatsApp, Signal and other apps. Anyone with the link sees the image. To draw it, the website briefly fetches your profile picture from LaceUp without storing it. We delete the image on request to go@laceup.ch.
When you visit the website
- The website is hosted by Hostfactory in Switzerland. The server logs technically necessary data such as IP address, time, page requested and browser, for operation and security.
- We use no cookies, no web analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- In your browser’s storage (localStorage) the page keeps: your login, the ski areas you ticked off for your trial count, a cached copy of the ski areas and leaderboards, stamps not yet sent and the link to your shared image. This data stays on your device. You delete it with “Log out” or in your browser settings.
Your browser loads parts of the page directly from these services, which receive your IP address:
- LaceUp (laceup.io): ski areas, leaderboards and your passport. The terms and conditions and privacy policy in the window come from laceup.ch.
- swisstopo, Federal Office of Topography, Switzerland: map tiles.
- Google Fonts, Google: fonts. Your IP address may reach the USA.
- cdnjs, Cloudflare: the Leaflet map library. Your IP address may reach the USA.
How long we keep data
We keep your passport with its stamps as long as your account exists and the Piste Passport runs, or until you ask us to delete it. For the laceup.io platform, the retention periods of LaceUp’s privacy policy apply.
Your rights
You can ask for information about your data and have it corrected, deleted or handed over. Write to go@laceup.ch. If you disagree with our answer, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Changes
We amend this policy when the Piste Passport or the legal situation changes. The version on this page applies.
